brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?

a baby quilt!

I knew I wanted to make my friend (whose baby popped yesterday!!) a unique baby quilt. (Well, unique for me in that I have never made something like this before.) They also weren't going to find out the sex of the baby so I wanted something very neutral. I came across the brown bear, brown bear fabric line...jiggty jig! I devised a quilt plan and ordered the fabrics accordingly. Then 5 months later, I got everything out, all happy I had a plan. But then I didn't like my plan and wanted something that looked more like a puzzle. So I came up with a new plan and added the yellow and green from my stash.

yes indeed, JIGGTY JIG!

I am not sure which animal is my favorite.

maybe the frog, he looks down right happy to be apart of the quilt, even though his bum is cut off

pattern: 4 different quilt blocks, randomly placed around.

But I have fabric left over...OH NO! should I make another? um, yes please!

That is a fabulous quilt! I had no idea they had a fabric line for my daughter's favourite book. This is so tempting.

Wow that's pretty - I love the way you have some of the animals off center (with the bums cut off). Animals on the move!
I found your blog from Jen (aka Wife, Mom, Knitter) and I look forward to reading more of your posts!

I love this quilt.... I just got a nice stash of Eric Carle fabrics to make a quilt for my niece 's baby shower. It looks like the identical fabric as yours . Do you have a pattern for this quilt ? or some general advice ? it is my favorite of all of the quilts I have been looking at .

Hi Mary, Its been awhile since I made this but I did a log cabin sort of block with the center big of the character and then strips around. All the strips were the same width but length adjusted as necessary. The final blocks were all the same size and then just sewn into rows. Good luck!!
